Frances Richey’s new collection of poems, The Warrior (Viking, $21.95), focuses on her relationship with her son, a Green Beret who has served two tours in Iraq. But it is also, significantly, a book that reportedly sold at auction for a solid six figures.To put that sum in perspective, it’s approximately five figures more than most poets could ever expect to see from a collection. This money was not, of course, paid solely for the poetry inside the book. No, the money was also paid for the true and genuine and authentic and confessional story inside the book.
