E-Verse staffer (and pro drinker) Erica fell in love with this card, from a series of “character-culture-citizenship” guides printed by T.G. Nichols, Kansas City, 1932, a set of 36 cards, which also includes “I have grown grey, and now find myself going blind” (from Washington’s March 15, 1783 speech to soldiers who threatened to mutiny because they had not been paid), and the wonderful “Be a good loser.” I reproduce several of them for you, along with one from a related group of “safety study cards” from 1966, “Never point a gun at anyone / Even in fun.”
