Alex Green is a writer, publisher, and letterpress artist. He is the founding owner of Back Pages Books, an independent bookstore and publishing house in Waltham, Massachusetts. Since 2010, he has been a writer and researcher for the Program on Negotiation based at the Harvard Law School, where his writing focuses on the study of international diplomacy and negotiations.
In 2005, Alex Green became the youngest bookstore owner in America as co-founder of Back Pages Books, an independent bookstore in Waltham, Massachusetts. Since its inception, the bookstore has been recognized for its creative approach to bookselling in a digital age, fostering close relationships with emerging writers and garnering praise as the Best New Bookstore in the Boston area by The Boston Globe in 2005. The bookstore has grown beyond the conventional confines of bookselling, to encompass a publishing house whose publications include works by famed historian Howard Zinn, Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Franz Wright, and countless others. In 2009, Green began printing fine press works through Back Pages Publishers, specializing in letterpress broadsides with a growing catalog of works that includes first publications of poems by writers including Robert Bly, Maxine Kumin, Jane Yolen, and Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney.
