In the summer of 2012, author and fine-press impresario Henry Wessells commissioned Ernest Hilbert to write an anti-war poem for a still-untitled fine-press art book to be issued as the second in a series by Temporary Culture, Wessell’s own press, which specializes in collectible science fiction and art books. The artwork for the edition was provided by Judith Clute, a Canadian artist resident in London. In 2008, Temporary Culture published Clute’s etchings along with the poem “Forever Peace. To Stop War” by Joe Haldeman, author of the science-fiction classic The Forever War (1974). Clute apprenticed to Francoise Andre and Charles Stegeman in the early 1960s, and her work has been shown internationally. David Wolfe has worked as a master letterpress printer since 1979 and renowned printmaker since 1998. He teaches at Harvard, Dartmouth, Wellesley, and elsewhere.
