Here’s a classic post from 2011 I thought I’d put up again now that summer’s arrived
.
On my recent trek through Scotland I found myself seated in the back room of the Royal Oak, a small pub in the northeastern village of Huntly, in Aberdeenshire. I learned of the latest drink to emerge from the long dark nights of the highland winter. It’s called the Black Sabbath, and it’s very easy to concoct. In fact, it’s so elementary as to almost escape the category of “drink” altogether. Here it is:
- Two shots of Jack Daniels
- Two shots of Jagermeister
- Do not add ice or chill in any way
- Do not stir
- Drink heroically
One local informed me that he had once enjoyed several glasses of this elegant cocktail and woke on the side of a mountain the next morning with his jacket on backwards and carrion birds wheeling overhead.
Please enjoy responsibly, preferably while blasting “Hole in the Sky” by the band that gave this drink its name and general character.
