I was down in St. Petersburg, Florida last week and weekend for an antiquarian bookfair in a restored 1920s ballroom. The show presenters really fixed the room up (reminds me of the Blues Brothers: “we’ll make the place look pretty, put up some showbills . . .”). It was a great fair, and there were even flappers, which made my day, since I had donned a Panama suit. Here is a cool little video of Cynthia Gibson (Cynthia Gibson Fine Books, NYC) and Sunday Steinkirchner (B&B Rare Books, NYC) explaining the flapper thing. Then they demonstrate, so watch till the end!
